We Offer A Wide Range of Dance Styles
No matter what dance genre your child has their eye on, you can find it at Strictly Rhythm Dance Academy. Each genre requires its own disciplines, and the studio has the instructors with the knowledge to help students succeed. To find out about class schedules or to register, contact us today.
Jazz – This is an energetic style that uses turns, jumps, spins and kicks. Students will focus on rhythm and co-ordination, as well as flexibility, which are at the heart of jazz dance.
Lyrical – This is a slow-moving jazz style of dance that mixes musicality and poise. Lyrical performance is a favourite among audiences, and also incorporates some elements of ballet and other styles.
Acro – This is also a jazz style of dance that requires gymnastics, tumbling, partner work and flexibility. Partner work and tricks are rehearsed with a full class complement, and dancers will take part in two mandatory year-end dance recitals.
Hip Hop – This is also a fun and high-energy style of dance that blends stamina, strength and co-ordination. This style of dance continues to shine in pop culture.
Tap – This style creates rhythms and sounds using heels and toes. Students in this genre will first learn basic tapping, and then those moves will be linked together to create entire routines.
Ballet – Grace and elegance are at the core of ballet. Students will learn to build balance, flexibility and strength through slow, controlled movements.
Pointe – This is a classic ballet style that focuses on foot placement and body alignment. Dancers must first demonstrate competency in a fundamental ballet technique before being invited to this class.
Contemporary – This is an interpretive style of dance that focuses on emotion and expression. It also relies on ballet and jazz skills.
Musical Theatre – In this class, students will not only learn to dance but also how to incorporate dialogue, acting and even singing into their routines to tell the story.
Conditioning – This can help your child improve in any genre of dance they choose by focusing on technique, strength and flexibility.
